Back from London, I wanted to thank all the readers of this new site. It’s been a real pleasure to have a place to write about subjects other than politics, and the number of people who’ve signed up, even as free subscribers, provides real encouragement to do this instead of kill more hours re-watching Rake episodes or old Hagler fights.
A few quick notes. One, last week’s trip combined with an illness slowed down the tips project, but there’s more of that coming in the next week. Secondly, I just wanted to point out that unlike Racket, where the comments section is closed to all but paying subscribers, The Writing Life is open to everyone. I forgot to open this morning’s piece, but that’s been fixed and future content will always be open.
I also wanted to hear from readers: what are the funniest short stories and/or novels you’ve read?
A Confederacy of Dunces
Anything by Mark Twain or P. G. Wodehouse.
